Re: “Why not monorail for Denver’s 16th Street Mall?,” Oct. 4 Jeremy Meyer column.
Jeremy Meyer suggests that a monorail may be the right fix for Denver’s 16th Street Mall. Before building a monorail, consider that Sydney, Australia, tore down its 2.2-mile, 25-year-old, monorail in 2013. The Daily Telegraph wrote: “Itap been slammed as ugly, intrusive and revealed to be one of the most expensive public transport systems in the world.”
RTD’s existing 16th Street Mall buses are an efficient way to move people. Solutions other than a monorail are needed to improve mall attractiveness.
