Commerce City voters on Tuesday overwhelmingly reelected Mayor Sean Ford to serve four more years on council, giving him 60 percent of the vote over his two challengers.
Ford received 3,866 of the 6,343 votes cast. His challengers, Jim Riddell and Gordon Hamby got almost the same amount of votes — 1,263 for Riddell (19.9 percent) and 1,214 for Gordon (19.1 percent).
The city’s open Ward 4 seat was narrowly picked up by Paolo Diaz, who won his seat with only 10 votes over runner-up Michael A. Scanlon. The split was 1,132 (42.5 percent) to 1,122 (42.1 percent). Ellen Haug also received 407 votes (15.3 percent) from a total of 2,661 cast.
The two available at-large seats went to incumbents Steven J. Douglas with 3,259 votes (32.3 percent) and Crystal R. Elliott who got 2,346 votes (23.2 percent) out of 10,085 total votes.
Incumbent Ward 2 Councilman Rick Teeter ran unopposed.
