A 25-year-old Westminster man Friday was sentenced to 48 years in prison in the disappearance and death of a Pueblo teen last year.
Adams County District Court Judge Craig Welling also sentenced Christopher Adam Waide to six years in prison for sexual exploitation of a child. That sentence will be served concurrently with the 48-year term.
Waide in September pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for the He also pleaded guilty to sexual exploitation of a child, stemming from child pornography found on his computer during the investigation into Porter’s disappearance.
While imposing the sentence, the judge said he did not believe the version of events that Waide gave police about how Porter died. Her body has not been found.
Waide’s actions “deprived the family from having closure and to have a final goodbye with their beloved family member,” Welling said during the sentencing.
Porter was reported missing in June 2014, after she was last known to be visiting friends in Westminster. Investigators found her abandoned car at an apartment complex where Waide lived. Porter’s family members said she and Waide were childhood friends growing up in southern Colorado.
Porter was in the process of moving to the Denver metro area at the time of her disappearance, according to authorities. She graduated from Florence High School in 2013.
Investigators believe Porter was upset that her boyfriend was moving out of state and went to visit Waide.
