Jefferson County school Superintendent Dan McMinimee in Lakewood on Nov. 4. (Helen H. Richardson, The Denver Post)

Re: “Sharp divisions on display through Jeffco school board’s final meeting,” Nov. 6 news story.

The outgoing members of the Jefferson County school board just voted a $9,500 bonus for Superintendent Dan McMinimee, over the objection of two board members who pointed out that his performance record is questionable. In other words, the outgoing board members have demonstrated, by their vote, that the pay-for-performance process that they implemented in the district does not apply to the superintendent. Jeffco teachers would most likely not receive an increase in pay for the same performance record.

The outgoing board members, by their actions, have made it clear that their pay-for-performance model is arbitrary and a sham.
