An armed man was shot Tuesday evening by Colorado Springs police who were responding to a disturbance call.
The incident happened about 5:15 p.m. in the 5100 block of Lanagan Street, said Jacqueline Kirby, an El Paso County Sheriff’s spokeswoman.
“The responding officers encountered an armed suspect who was approaching them and shots were fired,” Kirby said.
The officer-involved shooting will be investigated by the sheriff’s office.
The officers involved have been put on routine paid administrative leave in accordance with the police department’s policy.
The man who was shot was taken to a local hospital. Details on his condition were not immediately released.
Information on the initial disturbance call was not released.
