
Metro Denver gas prices now average under $2 per gallon and the statewide average is not far behind, according to GasBuddy.com’s weekly benchmark.
Fuel prices Denver and Colorado fell more than 6 cents per gallon on average to settle in at $1.95 per gallon and $2.01 per gallon, respectively, the fuel price website reported.
Nationally, the average price for a gallon of unleaded fell a nickel to $2.16 per gallon.
petroleum analysts cautioned that terrorism and other geopolitical events can shake Wall Street; however, the to Friday’s attacks in Paris have been subdued, officials said.
“That means Friday’s events are not likely to be what drives the direction of crude oil and market fundamentals can be expected to push retail gasoline prices lower in the U.S,” Gregg Laskoski, GasBuddy’s senior petroleum analyst for the Northeast, said in a statement. “We’re already seeing that as the national average today is 6 cents lower from a week ago and wholesale prices are also significantly lower.”
Prices for West Texas Intermediate and Brent crude are hovering in the low $40 range.
