Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and fellow GOP leaders talk to reporters Nov. 10 after the Senate passed the Defense Authorization Act by a vote of 91-3, sending the spending bill back to President Obama with language that will make it hard for him to close the military prison at Guantanamo before he leaves office in 2017. Re: “Obama should drop plan to close Guantanamo,” Nov. 11 editorial.
I have been a resident of Colorado for 72 years and I do not want to see President Obama transfer the detainees at Guantanamo Bay to Colorado — or any other state, for that matter. These detainees are war criminals and should be left in a prison set aside for that purpose.
I feel that if Obama goes around Congress on this matter, the United States of America should take any and all legal action they have to against him. Obama is a president, not a king, and we, as citizens of this country, need to remind him he works for the citizens of the U.S.A., whether he likes it or not.
Obama has run roughshod over this country and its laws, and it is certainly time he is stopped.
Roy Pitts, Eckert
