GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) — Employees of three Mesa County stores that sell and redeem lottery tickets have been accused of taking customers’ winning Colorado scratch lottery tickets, telling the customers they had not won and attempting to cash the winning tickets.

The Daily Sentinel of Grand Junction reports (http://bit.ly/1MzXd8D ) that four people have been accused in schemes that were discovered in a sting operation by the Colorado Department of revenue and the Colorado Lottery enforcement Division between Oct. 12 and Oct. 15.

All of the tickets used in the sting had winning amounts of at least $5,000.

A spokesman with the Colorado Lottery did not immediately return a call for comment.
