Interview with Sabrina Lemay, owner
Q: How did you get involved in this business?
A: We became involved in the beauty industry when we acquired the salon from the women next to our other business.
Q: What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?
A: We are very active in our community and we support everyone around us. We participate in chamber and community events. We co-host an annual breast cancer awareness and fundraiser event. One of our owners helped bring back the Englewood Christmas parade. We have also hosted cut-a-thons in which we gave away free haircuts to kids in the area for the school year.
Q: What do you like best about your line of work?
A: In our line of work, we get to be creative and meet many people.
Q: What is your business’ biggest challenge?
A: Our biggest challenge this year had been our move. It was a long process that took several months longer than we expected. Now we are adjusting to the new salon, trying to balance our new clients and old clients.
Q: Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:
A: This year, I was diagnosed with breast cancer while I was pregnant. This has brought on many changes to the salon. I continued to work while undergoing my treatment during my pregnancy. We have been grateful for the outpouring of community support. I had my son in August, and he is a very healthy boy. I now continue my treatment and I expect to recover completely by February.
