Three adults and six children are displaced after a fire damaged their Federal Heights home Friday, officials said.
Crews responded around 5:45 p.m. to a fire in a residential neighborhood at 8971 Clay Street, said Federal Heights Fire Chief Sean Ellis.
Smoke was billowing out of the home’s garage, where investigators believe the fire began.
Crews contained the blaze to the garage and put the flames out, but the blaze caused extensive smoke damage to the entire home, Ellis said.
All family members, pets and firefighters were uninjured, Ellis said.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The Red Cross later responded with emotional support, food, clothing care kits and lodging for the family.
Fire crews continue to clean up the smoke damage, but Ellis said that as long as the home passes the building inspection, the family should be able to re-enter it.
