Orlando arrives in Denver for Tuesday night’s game against the Nuggets a well-rested bunch. The Magic can thank the NBA for that.
Orlando had not one, but two days off between their game at the L.A. Clippers on Sunday and Tuesday night’s game against the Nuggets. Call this a success in the efforts to .
But it didn’t exactly end there. Orlando, currently on a five-game Western Conference road trip, played at Utah on Dec. 3. They then had a day off, traveling from Salt Lake City to Los Angeles. And then the two days off between the Clippers game and this one.
Asked how nice it was to not have to play in Denver as the second of a back-to-back — something many coaches hate because of the potential big advantage for the Nuggets at altitude — Orlando coach Scott Skiles grinned.
“I see where that’s an issue for some teams,” Skiles said. “I know the altitude, and people play that whole thing into it… But look, it’s the schedule, and the schedule is the schedule. Everybody’s got to go through it. If we play well and get a win I’ll be glad we didn’t come in on the second of a back-to-back. If we stink it up and lose, it wouldn’t make any difference.”
