A created for the family of a police officer killed in last month’s attack on a Colorado Springs branch of Planned Parenthood had raised more than $236,000 as of Thursday.
Donations, some of them hundreds of dollars, continue to roll in on an hourly basis to honor the life of .
“My prayers and love are with the family, friends and community,” one man, who gave $100 to the fund, said in a post accompanying his Thursday gift. “I continue to ask the Lord to bring comfort and strength to all.”
The fund, on YouCaring.com, initially sought to raise $100,000.
Swasey was a 44-year-old married father of two young children who was actively involved in his church. Before becoming an officer, he was a champion ice dancer.
Swasey, a member of the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs Police Department, was one of three people killed . Nine others, including five police officers, were also shot in the attack.
The two others slain in the shootings were 29-year-old and 35-year-old . They, too, were parents.
