Denver’s cold temperatures will gradually give way to warmer weather through the first few days of the new year.
But not before a few very cold nights with wind chill factors making it feel like below zero, according to forecasters of the National Weather Service in Boulder.
On Wednesday it will be partly cloudy with temperatures rising to 28 degrees, according to Kyle Fredin, a NWS meteorologist. Light and variable winds are expected.
The low Wednesday night is expected to drop to 5 degrees. Taking wind chill into account, the low temperature will be -6 degrees Thursday night.
It will be sunny on New Year’s Day with a high near 29. The low will be 12 degrees.
Temperatures will rise to the 30s Saturday and Sunday and could reach 44 by Monday, according to the forecast.
The best chance for snow in the mountains over the next several days is Wednesday night.
There is a 40 percent chance of snow, but not much accumulation is expected, Fredin said.
