1 Dine and ditch. The owner of the Chili’s at 3451 N. Tower Road called police Dec. 13 because a woman tried to pay her food bill with two declined credit cards, and then left the restaurant without trying to fix the situation. Another couple at the table paid their half of the bill in cash, then fled with the suspect.

2 Stolen and paid for. A woman bought a pair of black boots and they were accidentally shipped to her old address in the 700 block of South Chambers Road. The woman who now lives at that address in the apartment complex lied and said that she got the boots and gave them to the front office Dec. 13. She then said she lost the boots, and gave the officer cash to give to the victim.

3 Bottle rockets. Police went to the University Hospital at 740 S. Peoria St. on Dec. 17 because a woman was hit in the face with a beer bottle a few nights before and she wanted to file a report about the incident, which happened at a club. The woman didn’t know who hit her.

4 Beauty heist. A clerk at the Sally Beauty Supply at 4257 S. Buckley Road, called police Dec. 19 because a man came into the store, grabbed several boxes of hair dryers and curlers, and ran.

5 Free beer. The owner of the Zephyr Lounge at 11940 E. Colfax Ave. called police Dec. 18 because a man ran up a beer tab and then refused to pay for it. He fled, and police couldn’t find him.

6 Busted window. A man called police to his home in the 1900 block of North Beeler Street because someone broke his living room window while he wasn’t there Dec. 14.
