The annual TV event called “From Vienna: The New Year’s Celebration” is one of our sentimental favorites, not just because host Julie Andrews has a peppy way of nursing us through the biggest hangover of the holidays. The Vienna Philharmonic does its best work entertaining the world live with waltzes by Strauss and other popular composers, and its famous concert hall, the ultra-elegant Musikverein, looks swell, as does the entire city. Conductor Mariss Jansons oversees operations with special appearances by dancers from the Vienna City Ballet. 7 p.m. this evening , Rocky Mountain PBS. Check TV provider listings for channel.
