The Avalanche claimed defenseman Andrew Bodnarchuk off waivers from the Columbus Blue Jackets, the team announced Monday.

The 27-year-old Bodnarchuk played in 16 games for Columbus this season, tallying two assists.

Bodnarchuk was drafted by Boston in the fifth round of the 2006 NHL draft.
