1 Frauding frenzy. A woman living on Phillips Peak in Highlands Ranch reported several instances of fraud on Dec. 22. Helzberg Diamonds contacted her to confirm a change of address she never filed. Dillard’s and Saks Fifth Avenue contacted her about new credit cards she never opened. The Saks card was used in Atlanta. All charges were stopped.

2 Vanishing trick. Employees at the Shomp BMW dealership at 1190 Plum Valley Lane, Highlands Ranch, on Dec. 22 reported that a new BMW X4 was missing. The car came in months before but was last seen coming through the dealership carwash. After searching for weeks, it was determined the vehicle was stolen.

3 Shocking tampering. The construction manager of a home in the 9700 block of Hunters Hill Lane, Douglas County, on Dec. 23 reported that someone cut the wires in a bedroom of the new home. No wiring was stolen or missing, but $3,000 in damage was done.

4 Find your own way home. A Florida man visiting his son in Colorado said the rear driver’s side window of his Dodge Charger was broken and his navigation unit was stolen in the parking lot of the Hilton Garden Inn, 1050 Plaza Drive, Highlands Ranch, on Dec. 27. Total loss was $400.

5 Damaged gate does damage. Because of damage to the electrical system, the front gate of Franktown Self Storage Company, Franktown, had to be left open for customers. On Dec. 27, the manager found locks had been cut from two units. One had $5,000 in tools and rolling tool carts stolen from within.
