after one teen was killed and two others injured from falling through an icy pond in Parker, four more people were rescued atop an icy lake in Englewood on Friday.
No one was injured in the incident that happened in Centennial Park at 4630 S. Decatur St, said Denver Fire Department spokeswoman Melissa Taylor.
Passersby called Englewood Police Department after seeing three teenagers and one adult out on the ice of a lake in the park, Taylor said.
Officers were able to communicate with the stranded people and talked them through getting on a small island in the middle of the ice.
From there, an underwater rescue team with the Denver Fire Department rescued the four, who were all cited for park violations and will have mandatory court appearances, Taylor said.
“One of the messages we’re trying to get out is really encouraging people to stay off the ice,” Taylor said. “It’s just not safe.”
