
Steamboat Olympic snowboarder Arielle Gold shows off her lucky Broncos jersey after winning gold at the Laax Open on Friday.
stomped a flawless run down the halfpipe at Switzerland’s Laax resort on Friday to win the Laax Open. With a strong 900 and impressive grabs, Gold blew past Australia’s Olympic gold medalist Torah Bright and Japan’s Hikaru Oe to earn gold, marking the second time she has won gold in the Laax halfpipe.

Gold won the contest in 2013, which was known as the Burton European Open before the snowboarding giant pulled its support of the contest last fall. Gold is scheduled to compete in next week’s Aspen X Games, where she won bronze in 2013.
Gold was the only American to climb the halfpipe podium at the Laax Open. Japan snowboarding phenom Ayumu Hirano won the men’s contest, promising a showdown next week in Aspen as the 17-year-old Olympic silver medalist aims to best the silver medal he earned as a 14-year-old rookie in 2013.
