
Two Gap stores in Aurora and Loveland will close their doors for good Tuesday as part of a wave of store closings by the struggling clothing retailer.
The Gap store at Southlands, 6155 S. Main St., Aurora, and the Promenade Shops at Centerra, 5957 Sky Pond Drive, Loveland, are among 70 stores in the U.S. and Canada scheduled to close or consolidate Tuesday.
Gap has seven remaining stores in Colorado: Cherry Creek Shopping Center, Park Meadows, Denver Pavilions, Flatiron Crossing, Southwest Plaza, Aspen Grove and Promenade Shops at Briargate in Colorado Springs, according to the retailer’s website.
Outlet stores were not affected.
Gap Inc., the parent company of Gap, Banana Republic, Old Navy and Athleta, over the next few years “as part of a comprehensive strategy to position Gap brand for improved business performance and build for the future.”
Roughly 140 closures were expected by Jan. 31, the end of the company’s fiscal year.
The retailer earlier this month reported a , with comparable sales in December down 5 percent year-over-year.
