1 Morbid scam. Someone in the Dominican Republic called a man who lives in the 1500 block of North Nome Street on Jan. 17 and threatened to kill him and his friends if he didn’t send $300 by Western Union. The suspect was also texting stock images of dismembered bodies to the victim. There are no suspects.
2 Zigzagging burglars. A couple returned to their home in the 600 block of Oswego Court after dinner Jan. 20 and saw two men running back and forth in their living room from the front window. The burglars took two guns and some jewelry from the house.
3 Sodas to go. A woman asked for two sodas from the bartender at the Old Chicago at 6105 S. Main St. and paid for them with a $100 bill that was fake. The bartender saw the suspect grab the $2.59 drinks and run out of the restaurant Jan. 18.
4 Parking space grudge. In the 13900 block of East Stanford Circle, there is only one handicap parking spot that two residents use. One of the residents called police Jan. 14 and said the son of the other handicapped resident broke all the windows out of his car for using the parking spot. There was no evidence.
5 Siphoned gas. A man with a truck that holds 42 gallons of gas called police to his home in the 17100 block of East Evans Avenue and said someone stole gas out of the truck Jan. 20. He said he filled the truck up the day before, and it was empty that morning. There are no suspects.
6 Stolen semi. Police recovered a stolen Peterbilt semi truck in the 16700 block of East Second Avenue. An employee for a company that held a lien on the truck took it Jan. 20.
