Interview with Lynne Hurlburt, owner
Q: How did you get involved in this business?
A: I have always enjoyed entertaining and having a reason to have events. It makes me so happy when I make people have a great time. I have two daughters and love working with children, so I made the tea parlour have a formal girlie theme.
Q: What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?
A: This is the only private venue in the state where children can have tea parties. It’s also the only place that has dress up clothes and accessories (I have more than 100 dresses for the costumes). I also do bridal and wedding showers, and birthday parties for seniors. This is the only place in the state that teaches Girls Scouts manners badge classes.
Q: What do you like best about your line of work?
A: I get to host events and spend special time with people. Mothers tell me all the time how I am making memories for their daughters that they will remember their whole lives.
Q: What is your business’ biggest challenge?
A: Expansion. I would love to find someone just like me and open in other areas of Colorado, and even around the United States. Also, there aren’t enough weekends in a month to do more parties. I am blessed to stay pretty booked all year round.
Q: Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:
A: I also own and work as a hairstylist at one of the busiest hair salons in Parker. I love being involved with philanthropy groups and have a passion for helping coach small business owners.
