Too young for that. A man living in the 6700 block of Hillside Way, Douglas County, got a call from a New Brunswick-area phone number Jan. 21 by a suspect who claimed the man’s granddaughter had recently been arrested and needed $25,000 for bail. The suspect said she had been caught with cocaine in her car after running a red light. The suspicious man hung up without offering the money. His granddaughter is in middle school.

Unneighborly. A woman living in the 500 block of Helena Circle, Lone Tree, called police Jan. 22 and said her neighbor earlier that day cursed at her 13-year-old daughter and told her the family needed to shut their dogs up. The caller said they had reoccurring issues with the neighbor. Police found the neighbor was the subject of protection order but it did not include a no-contact clause. He was not charged.

Cousin who? A woman living in the 3000 block of Mill Vista Road, Highlands Ranch, went into a bank Jan. 27 to transfer $5,000 to a man she identified as her cousin. She told tellers the man, who she had never met, called her out of the blue and asked for help paying for an operation. Bank personnel froze the transaction.

Not a rib fan. Someone used a rock to smash out the emergency exit door of the Chili’s restaurant at 10460 Park Meadows Drive, Douglas County, on Jan. 24.

Dancer dashed. A woman reported her car was broken into in the 9000 block of Kenwood Court, Highlands Ranch, late in the evening of Jan. 19 and her dance bag, with shoes and CDs in it, was stolen.
