Curious Theatre announced its 19th season slate with five plays, including the regional premiere of Robert Askins’ “Hand to God.”
Launching the season is the regional premiere of the 2012 Pulitzer Prize winning drama, “Water by the Spoonful” by Quiara Alegría Hudes. This is the second of three in The Elliot Plays cycle, continuing Curious’ commitment to exploring . “Water by the Spoonful” opens Sept. 3.
“Hand to God,” the Broadway hit in which a foul-mouthed puppet spouts off in a Church-led puppet group, also gets a regional premiere at Curious, opening Nov. 5. The irreverent comedy explores faith, grief and humanity.
“The Happiest Song Plays Last,” by Quiara Alegría Hudes, the third and final chapter in “The Elliot Plays,” runs Jan. 14-Feb. 17, 2017. The play features musicians accompanying and underscoring the play’s Puerto Rican roots.
“Constellations” by Nick Payne, inspired by string theory, tells a multidimensional love story in which a variety of alternatives do or don’t occur. This regional premiere is set for March-April 2017.
Finally, “The Luckiest People” by Meridith Friedman will have its world premiere in May 2017. This saga of middle age is the first in a series of plays commissioned by Curious Theatre Company.
