In his column assessing Donald s Trump s possible presidency, Dave Shiflett states that the current political season would be a snoozefest without him. A more untrue statement could not made, for every time Trump appears on my TV screen with his mind-numbing pompous blather, I feel an overpowering desire to nap. The statement is also an unfortunate one in that Shiflett evidently thinks that political campaigns that focus on an in-depth analysis of actual, real-life issues instead of personalities and score-keeping is boring. That s exactly the kind of thinking that keeps Trump on top. But I ll give The Donald this: he s played the ever-growing ranks of ignorant, angry Americans like a master puppeteer — and that should be a wake-up call.
