“Mile High Mike” is heading back into the ring.
Colorado’s own Mike Alvarado (34-4) will take on Mexican boxer Saul Corral (19-6) on March 19 in Houston, Top Rank Boxing announced Tuesday.
Alvarado, 35, was a rising star in the 140-pound weight class after starting his career with a flawless 33-0 record. After splitting a pair of action-packed battles with Brandon Rios — with Alvarado winning the second — he was awarded a WBO world super lightweight title fight against Ruslan Provodnikov in 2013. Provodnikov won.
In his last five fights, Alvarado is 1-4 and is currently on a three-bout losing streak. This will be his first match since losing to Rios in their rubber match on Jan. 24, 2015.
Alvarado will co-headline the card, which includes a match between former world lightweight champ Juan Diaz (40-4) and Fernando Garcia (30-7-2).
