As if traffic down there wasn’t bad enough already, President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama are scheduled to be the keynote speakers at SXSW 2016. Not together, because that would be too weird. President Obama is scheduled to address the techies at the March 11 interactive gathering and First Lady will be at SXSW Music on March 16.

The forthcoming address to their Austin constituents is to talk shop about civic engagement.
It’s no secret that President Obama is a Kendrick Lamar fan. But let’s be real: Discourse will shift into a Team Drake or Team Kendrick ping pong match. We can banter about the merits of Young Money and whether Malia’s internship with Lena Dunham on the set of “” will translate into a future at Barnard College.
First Lady Michelle takes charge March 16 when she delivers a keynote on her initiative on the music panel. As for how she’ll plan to tie into music? Maybe a at the Fader Fort or a surprise Beyoncé/Adele appearance at a pop-up spot on East 6th? You know how these SXSW things work: in secret and then with an overwhelming crowd.
Take your bets. As for us, we’re willing to venture the Obamas would choose Polvos over El Arroyo for South By brunch. We’ll wager you thirteen buzz bands. Any takers?
