Re: Echoes of history in Donald Trump’s stance on Muslims, March 6 guest commentary.

Even though I identify as a conservative and as a Republican, I do not agree with the jingoism promoted by Donald Trump, whether it be directed at illegal immigrants or Muslims or any others.

However, I have to take issue with Qusair Mohamedbhai s comments in the Sunday Post. To equate the rhetoric directed at Muslims with the mass internments, tortures and murders of millions of Jews is an abomination. I would have preferred to have read Mohamedbhai s denunciation of jihad, the Islamic State, and Wahhabism, but those denunciations are nowhere to be found in his missive.

I truly believe that the vast majority of American Muslims are seeking the same objectives that my family and I are seeking: freedom from religious persecution, the pursuit of happiness, and a safe and secure existence in which to attain those ideals. It would greatly alleviate my fears if American Muslims were to be a little more vociferous in their condemnation of the radicalism that Islam has fostered.
