1 Failed vodka theft. Two underage boys went into the I P Liquor store, 12131 E. Iliff Ave., concealed a liter of Absolut vodka and tried to walk out Feb. 22. When the clerk stopped them, they took off running, accidentally dropping the bottle on the sidewalk, shattering it.

2 Inability and refusal to pay. A cab driver picked up a man in Denver on Feb. 13 and drove him to the 7000 block of Laredo Street. When it was time to pay the fare, the man gave the driver a stolen credit card that was declined. The suspect jumped out of the cab and hid in his apartment.

3 Drunken phone smasher. An intoxicated man was trying to use the community phone at the Arapahoe House, 1290 S. Potomac St., while he sobered up Feb. 26. Police were called when the man became frustrated and threw the phone, breaking it.

4 Rummaging around. Police responded to the 14100 block of East Layton Drive because someone smashed a woman’s sliding glass door with a rock and went through all of her dresser drawers March 4.

5 Wire transfer fraud. A man who lives in the 1100 block of North Hillside Street received a $2,000 check from an unknown person with a note that said he would get $250 of that check if he agreed to wire some of his own money. The man gave the evidence to police Feb. 24.

6 Phone tracking. A man in the 1900 block of North Tower Road called police because someone stole his cellphone while he was working Feb. 26. The victim was tracking the phone, but it kept changing locations and officer couldn’t chase it down.
