Things are looking rosy for new album. The Denver singer-songwriter, who co-founded Colorado indie-folk darlings Paper Bird, garnered international acclaim for her 2014 album which reimagined famous pop songs about women from the subject’s perspective.
Following positive press for that release from The New York Times, The Guardian and others, Patterson also scored a minor hit with “Dearly Departed,” a sprightly duet with Austin-based folk-pop artist Shakey Graves, which landed her on “Late Night with David Letterman,” and more.
Now she’s back with a catchy new album, “We Were Wild,” which drops June 10 via Grand Jury Music, and the propulsive single “Feel Right.” Taking cues from , the song puts Patterson’s nimble voice up front with a sunny, energized melody and raucous coda. We’ve heard the rest of the album and can say it’s just as confident and engaging, presenting Patterson in a balanced way that could position her as the next big thing from Colorado (following peers/sometime-collaborators like Nathaniel Rateliff and his current band the Night Sweats).
