It should be mostly sunny with highs in the 60s Tuesday before the next storm enters the state and brings a chance for rain and then snow.

The high Monday in Denver topped out at 65 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

The low temperature overnight Monday will be about 39 degrees.

Temperatures should be slightly above seasonal norms Tuesday, with the high reaching about 63 degrees as winds gust up to 23 mph, the weather service reported Monday evening.

There is a slight chance for rain before midnight Tuesday.

Early Wednesday there’s a 30 percent chance for snow. Then the snow could change to rain as the temperature climbs to 41 degrees in the afternoon. Total snow accumulation should be minimal — less than 2 inches — in the city.

Winds from the west and southwest will be between 20 and 25 mph in the afternoon with gusts up to 30 mph.

There is a chance for snow in the mountains through the week, with the most snow falling between Tuesday night and Wednesday, said Kyle Fredin, a weather service meteorologist in Boulder.

Between 4 to 10 inches of new snow is expected through the week in the high country with the highest amounts falling on west-facing slopes, he said.

There is a slight chance of rain Thursday afternoon in Denver as the high temperature rises to about 44 degrees. Rain in the city could turn to snow Thursday night, with a 10 percent chance of snow before midnight.

Temperatures in Denver will begin to climb Friday, to near 49 degrees, before reaching the 60s over the weekend.
