“The Bachelor” star Ben Higgins can always remember his first Denver date with fiancee Lauren Bushnell as the night he got stuck in an elevator.

On Wednesday night at 8:45 p.m., the Denver Fire Department got a routine call that a man was stuck in an elevator in a parking garage at 3330 Brighton Boulevard, next to The Source food market, according to Denver Fire Department spokesman Greg Pixely.

Little did firefighters know, the man they were rescuing was none other than Higgins, the 28-year-old star of the dating show “The Bachelor.”

“It was just a bread and butter call for us,” Pixely said.

Higgins and Bushnell, who are now engaged, were on their first Denver date. The couple had to keep their official relationship status under wraps until all of the episodes aired.

Higgins said he was going to grab their car while Bushnell stayed warm inside. But then he got stuck in the elevator.

“Traumatizing!” a tweet from Higgins said. “I’ll never forget our first Denver date.”

A video Bushnell added to her Snapchat story, showed her pushing the elevator button while Higgins inside.

“Uh oh,” she said. “Honey? We’re going to get you out of here, OK?”

Once firefighters rescued Higgins, Pixely said the couple seemed so appreciative that they began to share the story.

“Twenty years from now I think (Lauren) and I are going to be happy that our life is documented,” Higgins said.
