CARBONDALE, Colo. (AP) — A town leader in Carbondale is at risk of giving up her seat on the board of trustees unless she can find a home she can afford.
Town Trustee Katrina Byars says she lost her long-term rental after it was put up for sale and has been unable to find a home for her and her two teenage children in the town near Aspen. In the meantime, the Glenwood Springs Post Independent (http://bit.ly/1VwDax1 ) reports that she and her children have split up to sleep at the homes of various friends for the last month and gave up their dog.
The single mother has found an efficiency apartment she can afford but it is just feet outside the town limits. Taking it would require her to resign.
