Colorado Springs police believe speed and alcohol were factors in the death of a 64-year-old man who crashed into a building Tuesday afternoon.

John Holdren Jr. was killed in the wreck about 1 p.m. near the intersection of Woodmen Road and Woodchime Place, police said Wednesday.

Holdren was partially ejected from his vehicle in the single-vehicle crash. He died at the scene.

Investigators said their initial investigation showed Holdren’s vehicle lost control and impacted the residential building, causing significant damage.

Residents were in the building, but able to exit without incident or injury.
