A 70-year-old southern Colorado man was fatally injured Saturday when he was struck by a large tree branch as he plowed snow on his property.
James Aldridge was on an all-terrain vehicle in Monte Vista when he was hit, according to Rusty Strohmayer, coroner for Rio Grande County.
Aldridge was pronounced dead at an area hospital.
The death was in Colorado Springs.
Strohmayer said the branch that hit Aldridge broke away after it was weighed down by heavy, wet snow.
The National Weather Service in Pueblo reports more than 20 inches of snow fell in Monte Vista .
