More than 1,000 business and community leaders are expected to attend the Denver Public Schools Foundation’s annual Achieve Gala, to be held Thursday at the Hyatt Regency Denver at the Colorado Convention Center.

The annual event, the organization’s 14th, raises money for DPS programs, resources and other opportunities for its 90,000 students. Areas with the greatest need receive priority assistance, such as after-school programs, classroom grants, heath and nutrition, sports and literacy initiatives, the foundation said in a press release.

“It takes all of us to ensure we achieve our vision of Every Child Succeeds,” foundation president and CEO Veronica Figoli said in a statement.

The event, sponsored by the Western Union Foundation and beginning at 5:30 p.m., is expected to include performances by DPS students from Bruce Randolph School, Teller Elementary and Bryant Webster School. Gov. John Hickenlooper, Mayor Michael Hancock and DPS Acting Superintendent Susana Cordova are expected to offer remarks about pressing issues affecting students and schools, the foundation said.

Tickets must be purchased in advance at or calling 720-423-3553.
