A man suspected of being involved in a fatal shooting surrendered to Thornton police on Sunday.

Jeremiah Charles Hooker, 24, was taken into custody and faces charges of second-degree murder. “He just walked into the Thornton Police Department and turned himself in,” Matt Barnes, police spokesman said.

An unidentified male victim died after being shot Saturday night on the 9400 block of Lilly Court.

Police allege Hooker was one of two men fighting before the shooting.

“They were outside in the road next to a vehicle,” when the fight began, Barnes said.

Hooker was a known acquaintance of the dead man, Barnes said.

Hooker and another person allegedly put the victim in a car and drove him to North Suburban Medical Center, Barnes said.

Hooker than fled the area, Barnes said.

Police identified Hooker as a person of interest in the case shortly before his surrender.
