More time to take in great Western art

Ongoing. The American Museum of Western Art is one of Denver’s most interesting cultural stops, though it’s limited hours have prevented a lot of people from seeing its vast holding of American paintings. That loosens up a bit this summer as the AMWA extends its closing time to 6 p.m. on the first Wednesday of the month. That’s only a 90-minute increase but it does allow folks to include the gallery on after-work outings downtown. The museum is also doubling its “Artful Insight” lecture program to twice a month. The hours remain little tricky, so check the website for info. 1727 Tremont Place, Denver. 303-303- 293-2000 or .
