GREELEY — A Greeley-Evans Transit bus driver has been charged with careless driving and failure to stop for a red light in connection with a February crash involving a GET bus and an SUV.
Six people were hurt — though none with serious injuries — when the GET Bus struck the SUV. The bus had 10 passengers and was driven by David Burrier, 69, at the time of the crash, according to police records.
The bus’s on-board video system captured Burrier driving through a red light. According to police records, Burrier told officers he just wasn’t paying attention to his surroundings. He later told an officer as he was approaching the intersection he was broadcasting a message to his passengers about his next stop.
City of Greeley human resources director Sharon McCabe said Burrier no longer works for the city.
