Shred it
Tossing old receipts and paperwork in the trash is no option in this age of identity theft. For a small donation (even $1), you can get up to three copy paper-sized boxes or three kitchen-sized garbage bags shredded at the 9NEWS Shred-a-thon on May 14 from 7 a.m. to noon. There are six locations: Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Department (13101 E. Broncos Pkwy., Centennial), Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office (200 Jefferson County Pkwy., Golden), Aurora Municipal Courthouse (14999 E. Alameda Dr., Aurora), Westminster Police Department (9110 Yates St., Westminster), 9NEWS (500 Speer Blvd., Denver) and Shred-It headquarters (3925 Monaco Pkwy., Denver). The 9NEWS collection site opens early at 6 a.m. For added caution, the shredding is supervised by law enforcement officials. Volunteers will accept donations for Metro Denver Crime Stoppers.
Drama club
Teens already have a flair for being dramatic, so this teen-friendly event should be a showstopper. On May 20, the Curious Theatre Company is hosting its Teen Night. For $5, teens get dinner, pre-show fun and a ticket to “White Guy on the Bus” by Bruce Graham. The show starts at 8 p.m. In addition, teens get a seat up front at the talkback with the actors immediately following the performance. Space is limited and open to all teens. For reservations, e-mail boxoffice@curioustheatre.org.
