Here comes the sun? Nah.

Skies throughout the metro area are expected to be overcast, with a chance of showers throughout the week, according to the National Weather Service.

The weather will start to turn warmer on Wednesday, when partly sunny skies could reappear, said Kyle Frieden, of the National Weather Service, on Sunday.

But a slight chance of thunder storms will linger.

Thursday is expected to be mostly sunny and the mercury should climb to 60 degrees. There will be a slight chance of thunderstorms.

“May is our wettest month of the year, so we have a series of fairly weak storm systems coming into the area,” Frieden said.

Skies in the high country will also be gray with a chance for showers or even snow above 9,000 feet, he said.

The weather should be better next weekend, Frieden said.
