
Prosecutors have filed formal charges against the woman who was arrested last week in connection to
Maria Guadalupe Morado, 23, is facing charges of first-degree murder and criminal impersonation.
Prosecutors allege Morado stabbed 28-year-old Savanna Alli Chapman in the chest at the White Rock Motel at 5555 Federal Boulevard, according to a news release from the Adams County district attorney’s office.
Deputies arrived at the motel after receiving a distress call about 1:30 a.m. on May 19, and found the door to one room open and the injured woman inside.
Chapman was transported to the Denver Health Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
Morado is accused of giving police a false name during the investigation.
She was arrested a day after the stabbing by Adams County authorities.
She is scheduled for a preliminary hearing for 9 a.m. on Aug. 19 in Adams County district court.
