For Colorado craft beer fans, October is near.
This week, organizers for the Denver Rare Beer tasting announced an all-star lineup of more than 50 breweries scheduled to attend the Oct. 7 event.
Like the first snow on the mountaintops signals the coming ski season, the Denver Rare Beer list serves as the first indication that the Great American Beer Festival is within sight.
Denver Rare Beer is one of the premier events surrounding GABF, offering exclusive tastes of hard-to-find and unusual brews. Big-name brewers, including Brooklyn Brewery’s Garrett Oliver, Boston Beer’s Jim Koch and Dogfish Head’s Sam Calagione, often pour beer at the event.
go on sale 10 a.m. June 19.
“A top collection of American craft breweries have generously agreed to reach deep into their beer cellars for prized brews to pour at the Denver Rare Beer Tasting VIII,” said Rick Lyke, founder of Pints for Prostates, the organization that hosts the event as a fundraiser. “By helping us reach men through the universal language of beer, these brewers have joined the fight against prostate cancer.”
Among the top-notch breweries on the list: Bells, Casey, Fremont, Funky Buddha, Jester King, Lost Abbey, Russian River and Surly.
This year’s first-timers include Louisiana’s Bayou Teche, North Carolina’s Fonta Flora, Vermontap Lawson’s Finest Liquids, Connecticutap Two Roads and Colorado’s WeldWerks.
Held at the McNichols Civic Center, the event is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. Oct. 7 with entering an hour early.
