A former Mancos marshal convicted of drunken driving earlier this year was arrested by Durango police for driving with a revoked license.
John Cox, 55, was stopped last week while driving a 2014 red Jeep in the 500 block of Camino del Rio, according to The Durango Herald.
The was driving south at 1:12 a.m. May 30 when he failed to use a right-turn signal while merging onto U.S. Highway 160 to go west toward Mancos.
A Durango officer stopped the Jeep and determined Cox’s driving privileges had been revoked May 1 for a DUI conviction.
The DUI arrest came Nov. 10 in La Plata County, six days after he was placed on leave from being town marshal. He pleaded guilty in the DUI case in March.
Cox was the top law enforcement officer in Mancos until November, when he resigned following an arrest for driving under the influence. Days later, he was charged in a separate case with perjury, .
He was charged with six counts in the case, including the official misconduct charge — a petty offense — that he admitted to.
