Getting your player ready...

Brock Osweiler is skipping the ring ceremony with the Broncos? That’s not a surprise from “Judas” Osweiler. After the Broncos gave him the absolute best apprenticeship a quarterback could have for four years, paid him handsomely to carry Peyton Manning’s clipboard, got him a Super Bowl ring and anointed him the heir-apparent on a championship club, Osweiler had the nerve to bolt to an inferior team.

Kiz: Guess what, apountry. Osweiler loves his wife and is loyal to the Texans, who are paying him $18 million per year. He got dumped as a starter in Denver and found a better deal in Houston. That doesn’t make Osweiler a traitor. He’s a businessman, and the NFL is his job. In football terms, the Broncos are his ex. Oz doesn’t want to hang out at a party with his ex? So whatap the big deal? I’d say thatap a pretty natural human reaction.

I suspect since the late hockey star Gordie Howe was a patriot to both his birth and adopted countries, wasn’t a narcissist, was humble and law-abiding, and finally, was a white Christian, I will have to wait a long time to hear anything from the likes of you, Kiz.

Kiz: As a scrawny kid, I cheered for Stan Mikita, because he was 5-foot-9 and 170 pounds soaking wet. But I always admired Howe. Mr. Hockey will be missed. You see, whether an athlete is black or white, Christian or Muslim, it doesn’t really matter to me, so long as a man has a good and gracious heart. Call me a naïve fool, but when I studied the Declaration of Independence in the third grade, I actually bought into this line: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.”

Kiz, I liked your last line in a column on Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado: “Rage on, Nolan. Rage on.” Need a T-shirt made with that slogan. Rage on, Rockies.

Kiz: Great idea! The Rockies could sell a million of those T-shirts at Coors Field. All we have to do now is negotiate the licensing agreement. We here at Kickin’ It Headquarters would settle for $100,000 or 1 percent ownership stake in the team, whichever Dick Monfort thinks is fair.

And today’s parting shot is a reminder that an ink-stained wretch like me has no business criticizing Broncos executive John Elway for being cheap and stubborn in contract negotiations with linebacker Von Miller.

Kiz, have you personally ever managed a full-time employee? The guy who mows your lawn doesn’t count.
