A woman who, with her husband, disarmed two law enforcement officers and in northwest Colorado last year was sentenced Monday to 82 years in prison.

Georgie Hand, 44, of nine counts in the encounter, including second-degree kidnapping, aggravated robbery, disarming a peace officer, menacing and third-degree criminal trespass.

Hand’s husband, , died in the confrontation after the officers — Moffat County Sheriff’s Deputy Bhrent Shock and Colorado Parks and Wildlife Manager Nathan Martinez — were able to wrestle him to the ground, retrieve a weapon and shoot him in the back of the head.

Investigators say Hand played a prominent role in detaining , including helping Damon hold them at gunpoint during the March 2015 encounter near the town of Dinosaur.

Court documents , which made national headlines, with Martinez later telling investigators he was sure he was about to die.

Damon and Hand were wanted on several warrants issued across the nation, according to an arrest affidavit.

“Deputy Shock, Officer Martinez and our public safety community have waited 461 days for justice to be served,” Moffat County Sheriff K.C. Hume said in a statement.

The couple had been on a week-long methamphetamine bender at the time of the shooting, with Damon injecting the drug “two to three times a day, if not more,” Hand told investigators.
