Interview with Chase Parker, owner
Q: How did you get involved in this business?
A: I have always been interested in fitness. I played football at Michigan State University, and then was given the opportunity to learn under one of the best strength coaches in the country, Ken Mannie. From there I was given a chance to go to the University of Florida where I trained the athletes there for a while. I realized there that training everyday people was my passion. It became exciting to me, knowing this type of business can reach and help people on a larger scale. Training athletes will always be something I enjoy, but seeing people get off medications, become more confident and truly enjoy their lives is my passion. Whole Health Club allows me to teach people not only how to best exercise for them, but also how to prepare and eat healthy meals.
Q: What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?
A: Our biggest difference from most studios is our approach to health, not just exercise. We have an on-site kitchen that allows us to teach people how to prepare healthy food in a one-on-one setting, while also informing you why what you are eating is good for you. When it comes to exercise, we understand that exercise should be done by everyone, but isn’t equal for everyone. We find ways for you to enjoy exercise so that you want to keep coming back.
Q: What do you like best about your line of work?
A: Watching people find themselves. It sounds a little out there, but I love when I can watch someone really become happy with who they are. Seeing someone go for that promotion at work or get off medications or even just open up to others is the biggest reward for me.
Q: What is your business’ biggest challenge?
A: The biggest challenge for us at Whole Health Club is changing the way people view health. We want to encourage people to take a preventive approach to health and not wait till you have a health issue before addressing it. Medications have become a normal part of people’s lives and our challenge is to change that perception.
Q: Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:
A: I think people would be most surprised to find out how simple some of the changes they can make are and the huge impact those small changes can have in their lives.
