Summer typically brings higher prices at the fuel pumps, but Colorado is seeing a reprieve.
Crude oil’s decline has counteracted the summertime price hikes caused by demand, resulting in stable prices at the pumps, according to GasBuddy.com data released Monday.
The average price for a gallon of unleaded gasoline in Colorado was $2.26, unchanged from last week. Denver’s average of $2.22 per gallon also was flat, according to GasBuddy.
“Colorado was able to avoid the price hikes the Midwest and Great Lakes states saw earlier this month,” GasBuddy senior petroleum analyst Will Speer said in a statement. “So, as these areas see prices begin to recover, Colorado is also not seeing big price declines like the other regions experiencing the volatility.”
Nationally, fuel prices averaged $2.34 per gallon, down 4.5 cents from last week.
