Temperatures will warm up under a partly sunny sky Friday to about 95 degrees, forecasters say.
Afternoon rain could help tame the heat, and a cool front will lower temperatures down to the 80s for the weekend, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.
There is a 20 percent of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. Wind gusts could be between 30 and 50 mph, according Kyle Fredin, meteorologist for the NWS in Boulder.
“We can expect isolated rain and thunderstorms in the mountains, Front Range and the plains,” Fredin said.

The storm will carry less of a punch than Thursday night’s weather, he said.
A wind change early Saturday morning will bring cooler breezes from the north and northwest into Colorado.
Temperatures will drop once again in a seesaw week of highs threatening to reach 100 on some days and falling back in the low 80s the following day.
The high on Saturday, for example, is expected to reach 83 degrees, 12 degrees lower than Friday’s high. Wind gusts could reach 20 mph.
There’s a warming trend for the first part of next week with a forecast of 88 degrees on Sunday and 89 on Monday and Tuesday, according to the weather service.
There’s a slight chance for afternoon showers and thunderstorms Monday through Thursday.
High temperatures will fall Wednesday to 86 degrees and Thursday to 84 degrees, according to the weather service.
