Authorities have identified the man killed Monday聽when a single-engine experimental聽plane just north of the Central Colorado Regional Airport in Buena Vista.

Jay Jones, 63, from Buena Vista died in the crash, according to Chaffee County Sheriff John Spezze. He was the only person aboard.

Officials first received reports about聽a crash around 12:15 p.m. Monday, and witnesses told officials聽they heard the aircraft抖阴ap engine sputtering before the the plane went down, Spezze said.

The cause of the crash聽hasn鈥檛 been determined, and聽the National Transportation Safety Board聽and Federal Aviation Administration will聽investigate.
